WBL students gain valuable real-world work experiences by engaging in internships, externships, field experiences and part-time jobs. WBL students also have various opportunities to network with industry professionals which enhances the employability skills they learn in the WBL program.

WBL BENEFITS

  • Increase motivation by showing the relevance between School and work.
  • Provides opportunities to explore possible career field.
  • Gives a realistic view of specific career fields.
  • Helps to develop workplace responsibility, positive attitudes, and work ethics.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A rising 11th or 12th grade student and on track for graduation.
  • Completed a Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) Pathway at CCA.
  • Recommended by a CTAE teacher, homeschool teacher, and counselor.
  • Have parent permission and parent and student must attend orientation meeting.
  • Have a job, internship, or apprenticeship with reliable transportation to work and off campus at the beginning of the WBL Block. (Must immediately leave the school campus)

EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS DIPLOMA SEAL
Students will receive the Employability Skills Diploma Seal once they successfully complete all required employability skills training and practicum.

 

WBL CATEGORIES

Employability Skills Development focuses specifically on an application of employability skills at the job site where the student may not have completed the appropriately related coursework.
Cooperative Education allows the student to be on a Work-Based Learning placement at the same time they are takin the related class or have taken the related course.
Internship requires the student to have completed at least one unit in high school related to the occupational area of the job placement.
Youth Apprenticeship requires training specific to a post-secondary credential which the employer and student is committed.
